History

Barrie is a Scottish factory that specialises in the production of cashmere knitwear. Founded in the Scottish Borders in 1903, and originally specialising in high quality stockings, the House soon expanded into cardigans and pull-overs. The two-tone design as imagined by Gabrielle Chanel in the 1920s would thus be knitted at Barrie. For decades Barrie has been working with many big names in fashion. Acquired by CHANEL in 2012, it launched its own eponymous brand in 2014. Designed at Paris-based creation studio, each collection is made in Hawick, Scotland.
